DRY NEEDLING

Dry Needling in Tel Aviv

At Montefiore Clinic, dry needling is one tool within a broader physiotherapy framework, not a standalone system. We use it only after a clinical assessment determines it supports your recovery. For many, manual therapy, neurodynamic work, or exercise are more effective. Our priority is selecting the best intervention for your functional goals.

What is dry needling?

This technique involves inserting sterile needles into soft tissue to modulate sensitivity and address mechanical restrictions. At our Tel Aviv clinic, dry needling is never an isolated treatment. Instead, we integrate it into an evidence-informed clinical process designed to improve mobility and reduce pain through functional restoration.

We apply dry needling only when physical exams show relevant tissue irritability or restricted muscle movement. A 'knot' alone does not justify the technique; we must be certain the intervention will provide a measurable change in your movement quality or symptom management, ensuring every needle serves a specific clinical purpose.

Test, treat, reassess

We ensure efficacy through an 'Assess, Intervene, Reassess' protocol. Before needling, we establish a movement or pain baseline. After treatment, we re-test immediately. If there is no clear improvement in mobility or sensitivity, we adjust the plan, prioritizing clinical reasoning over any single modality.

Dry needling is rarely the whole treatment

While effective for local symptom relief, dry needling rarely solves the root of mechanical dysfunction. Long-term recovery at our clinic focuses on exercise loading, movement retraining, manual therapy, and neurodynamics. We aim for patient independence and functional restoration, avoiding a cycle of dependency on passive treatments alone.

Dry needling and scar tissue were central to Evgeny Dizik’s academic research. His Master’s work examined how these techniques manage the mobility of scarred areas. We evaluate each scar carefully to determine its clinical relevance before intervening, ensuring a research-informed, calm approach to complex soft-tissue issues.

Does dry needling hurt?

Sensation is subjective; some feel nothing, while others sense brief pressure or a twitch. Any soreness is mild and temporary. At Montefiore Clinic, we maintain a transparent, non-promotional environment where all procedures are explained, ensuring treatment only proceeds with your full consent and comfort.
